Macki Alvarez-Mena is a senior at the University of Southern California studying as a part of the Iovine and Young Academy's inaugural class. Founded by Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre with a major in Arts, Technology, and the Business of Innovation, the program focusses on harnessing creativity, strategic thinking, and gaining a strong skill set in order to execute one’s ideas. The majority of the Academy's assignments rely on teamwork, combining each student's skills in order to produce a successful innovation. The students are taught to think outside of the box and analyze their insights in order to turn their visions into realities.
Macki has a strong background in art and design, as well as entrepreneurship. She was most recently the Consumer Products Planning Intern for Nickelodeon in New York and has worked as the Special Events Intern for Nickelodeon Animation Studios, Consumer Products Softlines Intern at DreamWorks Animation, the Graphic Design Intern for USC's Athletic Department, and as USC Kappa Kappa Gamma's Design Chair. Throughout her time in the Academy, she has gained a large skill set ranging from illustration, graphic design, audio design, motion graphics, coding, and entrepreneurship. She also has an expertise in painting and creating physical artwork.
